Where Comfort Ends, Transformation Begins

If you are ready to transform your life, it’s time to step outside your comfort zone. As you embrace the unknown, letting go of the shore of comfort, you will discover the incredible growth and fulfillment that awaits you.

Trust is required to step out of your comfort zone. Trust in yourself, trust in the Divine, trust in others, and trust in life. Trust is similar to faith; faith is a belief, and trust is an action. For example, faith recognizes that a chair is designed to support the person sitting on it, but trust demonstrates faith by actually sitting in it. This distinction implies that one can have faith without trust, but no one can have trust without faith.

Consider astronauts and other NASA employees who have committed to doing their work and, by their intelligence and skills, have developed systems that will work in space. There is a point when they must rely on trust. It’s the point when they step out into space for a spacewalk. The action of taking that first step out into space is a demonstration of their faith.

One day in the 1980s, my friends and I drove to Santa Cruz from San Jose. We heard that across the street from the Boardwalk, people were bungee jumping from a cage hoisted up hundreds of feet in the air by a crane.

I felt called to give this a try and paid for my turn. The staff secured my harness and bungee cord, and I stepped into the cage with the bungee captain. The bungee captain instructed me as the crane lifted us high into the sky. I was to walk over to the cage door and place my hands on either side of the cage. The bungee captain would then shout, “One, two, three, bungee,” and I was to step out of the cage into the air.

I walked over to the cage door, placed my hands on each side, and waited for my cue. The bungee captain shouted, “One, two, three, bungee!” I felt my body try to go, but my mind stopped me. We are powerful beings. It’s counterintuitive to step out of a perfect cage and into thin air. I froze. Looking down at the tiny people on the ground with their necks bent frightened me. The bungee captain asked me what happened. I shrugged my shoulders and said let’s try that again. He stated, “One, two, three, bungee.” I told myself I would be fine as I stepped into thin air. I trusted.

I can have all the faith and belief in the world – I know I will be fine stepping out of the cage, but trust demonstrates my faith when I step out.

What metaphorical cage must you step out of to unlock your full potential and experience profound personal and spiritual growth? Are you ready for your transformation? Take action today. You got this!

And so it is.
